In the world of superyachts—where luxury, precision, and adventure converge—there exists a quiet force that ensures every voyage is seamless, every port welcoming, and every challenge met with expertise and tenacity. That force is the global network of yacht agents, and at the heart of this network lies the Association of Yacht Support Services (AYSS), a collective of vetted yacht agent professionals who embody excellence, integrity, and community.

A Global Network Rooted in Trust

Founded in 1991, AYSS is the only worldwide superyacht shore support network, with over 60 members spanning across 45 countries. From the Mediterranean to the Caribbean, Asia to the Pacific, AYSS agents are the trusted bridge between yacht crews and the complexities of local regulations, logistics, and cultural nuances. Their presence in key cruising grounds ensures that captains and crew receive premium support tailored to each region’s unique demands.

Membership in AYSS is not merely a listing—it is a badge of honour. Each agent undergoes a rigorous vetting process, including peer recommendations and adherence to a strict code of ethics. This ensures that AYSS members are not only competent but also committed to the values of professionalism, discretion, and collaboration.

Excellence Through Shared Values

What sets AYSS apart is its emphasis on shared values. The association is compiled of like-minded shore support companies that prioritise high-level ethics and professionalism. This alignment fosters a culture of mutual respect and continuous improvement, where members learn from one another and elevate the standards of the industry.

The AYSS Council plays a pivotal role in maintaining these standards. Council members are seasoned professionals who guide the association’s strategic direction, support new members, and ensure that AYSS remains responsive to the evolving needs of the superyacht community.

Building Community Across Oceans

Despite the vast distances between members, AYSS functions as a close-knit community. Regular meetings, such as the Annual General Meeting (AGM), bring members together to discuss industry trends, share insights, and strengthen relationships. The AGM highlights the importance of shore-based support agencies and the challenges posed by increasing bureaucracy and red tape. Speakers often share personal stories that underscore the value of humility, resilience, and collaboration in the face of adversity.

These gatherings are more than administrative check-ins—they are moments of connection, reflection, and inspiration. They remind members that while their offices may be scattered across the globe, their mission is unified: to support the superyacht industry with excellence and care.

Celebrating Creativity and Connection

AYSS doesn’t just support logistics—it celebrates the lifestyle and creativity of the superyacht world. The annual “Love From Above” drone competition is a prime example. This initiative invites crew members to submit short drone videos that capture the beauty of their expeditions, from cityscapes to wildlife encounters. The competition is judged by industry leaders and culminates in an awards ceremony at the prestigious Antigua Charter Yacht Show.

More than a contest, “Love From Above” is a celebration of the global superyacht community. It showcases the diverse perspectives of crew members and highlights the stunning locations that AYSS agents help make accessible. As past AYSS Chairman, Adam Tarleton aptly put it: “It is the ‘Agents of Excellence’ in the background who ease the way to make it happen.”

Regional Expertise, Global Impact

Each AYSS member brings deep regional expertise to the table. Whether navigating biosecurity regulations in Australia, coordinating port logistics in the Caribbean, or supporting crew welfare in Asia, AYSS agents are the local experts who make global cruising possible. Their knowledge ensures that yachts can operate smoothly, safely, and in compliance with local laws.

This regional strength is amplified by global collaboration. Members share best practices, contribute to marketing campaigns, and participate in joint initiatives like the AYSS digital handbook and social media outreach. These efforts not only promote individual agents but also reinforce the collective identity of AYSS as a trusted global brand.

Empowering the Next Generation

AYSS is also committed to nurturing future leaders in the industry. The association encourages members to join the Council, contribute to educational resources, and mentor new agents. This focus on empowerment ensures that AYSS remains dynamic and forward-looking, ready to adapt to the changing landscape of yachting.

The association’s inclusivity is evident in its support for agents from diverse backgrounds and regions. Recent communications highlight outreach to agents in Costa Rica, the Azores, and the South Pacific, reflecting AYSS’s commitment to expanding its reach and embracing new perspectives – vital for the continued success of its community.

AYSS: Excellence in Action

In the superyacht industry, where expectations are high and margins for error are slim, AYSS stands as a beacon of reliability, professionalism, and excellence. Its members are not just agents—they are facilitators of dreams, guardians of standards, and ambassadors of a lifestyle that spans oceans and cultures.

As the industry continues to evolve, AYSS remains steadfast in its mission: to support the global superyacht fleet with integrity, expertise, and heart. Whether through a drone competition, a port call, or a late-night logistical challenge, AYSS agents prove time and again that brilliance is best achieved together.
