For navigation purposes Patagonia can be divided in very distinct areas, each about 400NM in length from north to south with 17 protected National Parks to visit along the “Ruta de los Parques”:

Northern Patagonia – a stunning mix of lakes, volcanoes, temperate rain forests and rivers rich in fish and bird life. This area extends from Puerto Montt to the San Rafael Glacier.

Central Patagonia – experience the remoteness of Patagonia navigating its fjords to visit breathtaking landscapes. This area extends from Caleta Tortel to Puerto Natales.

Southern Patagonia – the glaciers and fjords are only accessible by water, witness the richness of Patagonia wildlife. This area extends from Puerto Natales to Puerto Williams and includes the Magellan Strait with the city of Punta Arenas and the Beagle Channel with the southernmost city in the American continent of Puerto Williams.
